Bulldog Bound Perspectives: Amberly Saul

Amberly Saul, MSU Meridian Campus

Meet Amberly Saul, a transfer student from Jones County Junior College. A property manager for ten years, Amberly, found she enjoyed working with numbers - handling rent and account receivables. There were other aspects of her job that she did not enjoy as much, so she decided to go in a new direction. That decision led her to enroll at MSU-Meridian to pursue an accounting degree.

"I attended a small high school and community college and I didn't want to be in a classroom with hundreds of other students, so MSU-Meridian has been a perfect fit. It's close enough for me to commute. The class size and teacher/student ratio is just right. I enjoy the atmosphere and the good friends I've made. I like that there are many other non-traditional students like myself in my classes and around campus. But my favorite part about the university is the faculty. They are so open and helpful. They are very approachable if I have a question or concern. I'd recommend MSU-Meridian to anybody!"

Academic Major Insight - Accounting

MSU School of Buisness

Students can pursue business degrees from The Division of Business at MSU Meridian.  Classes taken at this campus can lead to undergraduate and graduate degrees in accounting, business administration, information systems, management, marketing, technology management and healthcare administration.

At the main campus in Starkville, the College of Business's accounting program is one of the most popular transfer business majors. The Adkerson School of Accountancy prepares students for successful careers in accounting and business in a technology-oriented environment that promotes active learning, scholarly exploration, and service. The College of Business and the Adkerson School of Accountancy are accredited by AACSB International - the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

The specialized curriculum in accounting has been designed to meet the greater demand for accountants resulting from the development of information technology, more complicated taxation and governmental control measures, and growing public consciousness of the need for more accurate control methods in existing businesses. The program is also an excellent foundation for the study of law.

Mississippi State is one of the top military and veteran-friendly universities in the United States. The G. V. "Sonny" Montgomery Center for America's Veterans provides a campus based veterans resource center in support of student veterans, service members, dependents and survivors - often referred to as the student VSDS population.

The Center for America's Veterans was established in 2006. The center was one of the first comprehensive veteran's centers on a university campus. Today about 10% of our students are eligible for center services and roughly 40% of them receive Veterans G.I. Bill Educational Benefits.

The center provides services of advising prospective students on the admissions process and advising current students on their benefits and options. They give campus tours, assist in all initial paperwork concerning the G.I. Bill and serve as liaisons between departments and students as needed.

How to Get Tagged:

Community College Freshmen - If you're bound for Mississippi State, go ahead and Get Tagged! There are 2 ways to become part of our Transfer Admissions Guarantee (TAG) program.

If you were admitted to MSU as a freshman for Fall 2012 but decided to attend a community college first, just go back to apply.msstate.edu, log back in to your application and click the "TAG ME" button. Please tell us where you're attending community college and update your contact information as needed.

If you're in your first year of Community College but did NOT apply for admission to State as a freshman, you can still Get Tagged, too. Go to apply.msstate.edu and follow the directions to apply to the TAG program.

If you're a community college sophomore or a student planning to transfer from another 4-year institution, then the TAG program will not be the best fit for you. The traditional application for admission for Fall 2013 will be your best route.
