Bulldog Bound Perspectives - Anna Jones

Meet Anna Jones, a transfer student from Hinds Community College in Raymond, MS and Jones County Junior College. Anna came to MSU her senior year of high school on a Preview Day and fell in love with the university. After receiving an associate's degree from JCJC, Anna transferred to MSU to pursue an education in natural resources. MSU's College of Forest Resources offered Anna that opportunity since it is the only school in the state of Mississippi that offers a Bachelor's degree in Forestry.

"I knew I wanted to pursue a professional career in natural resources. The Forestry curriculum in the College of Forest Resources provides me with the education I need to be competitive and successful in my chosen field. The Forestry curriculum offers a variety of emphasis areas. Forests are a renewable resource and our professors teach us to manage them in a way as to insure they are well maintained and able to meet the needs and demands of future generations. Always remember - professors, upper classmen, and administrators are ready and willing to help you. After transferring to State, I became part of the Bulldog family and I'm now a bulldog through and through!"

~Anna Jones, Raymond, MS

Transfer Student Affairs

Transfer Student Association
Transfer Student Association

Are you transferring to MSU and want to learn how to get involved? The Transfer Student Association's (TSA) goal is to make transfer students feel welcomed, at home, and to help you find ways to get involved at Mississippi State. The TSA is open to every transfer student and there are no dues, fees, or documents to be an active participant in this association.

The central focus of the TSA is to help transfer students connect socially, academically, and professionally. The TSA hosts various events thoughout the fall and spring semesters on campus such as the Ice Cream and Involvement Organization Fair. This spring event was so successful that the fall version has been planned for Tuesday, September 3rd starting at 6pm in the Foster Ballroom of the Colvard Student Union - Mark your calendars! In the future, TSA plans to host organization events with Orientation Leaders, Future Educators of America, Music Makers, Greek Life, Roadrunners, Student Association, and many more.

For more information on the transfer student affairs programs and events, follow @MSU_Transfer on Twitter, visit the Transfer Student Association Facebook page: MSU Transfer Student Association and check out the TSA website.

How To Get Tagged

Community College Freshmen - If you're bound for Mississippi State, go ahead and Get Tagged! There are 2 ways to become part of our Transfer Admissions Guarantee (TAG) program.

If you were admitted to MSU as a freshman for Fall 2012 but decided to attend a community college first, just go back to apply.msstate.edu, log back in to your application and click the "TAG ME" button. Please tell us where you're attending community college and update your contact information as needed.

If you're in your first year of Community College but did NOT apply for admission to State as a freshman, you can still Get Tagged, too. Go to apply.msstate.edu and follow the directions to apply to the TAG program.

If you're a community college sophomore or a student planning to transfer from another 4-year institution, then the TAG program will not be the best fit for you. The traditional application for admission for Fall 2013 will be your best route.

Questions about Getting Tagged? Email us at TAG@msstate.edu.
