Bulldog Bound Perspectives - Jamie Beckham

Jamie Beckham

Meet Jamie Beckham, a transfer student from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in Perkinston, MS. Jamie chose to pursue a degree in Industrial Engineering at MSU. He believes that MSU has the best engineering school in Mississippi and a well renowned co-op program that will prepare him for his future in engineering.

"I have always been interested in studying systems and making them more efficient. Industrial Engineering is a broad field and I feel like there will be many job opportunities. I wanted to stay in Mississippi. I love the atmosphere found at MSU. My degree program is very welcoming. There is a back to school ISE Bash every August, on the Drill Field in front of McCain (the Industrial Engineering Building). Everyone in my program is invited to come hang out, eat, and meet students and staff, or see students they have not seen all summer. My first semester here, I went to the cookout and met some life long friends. Time flies by and college is a great chapter in most people's lives, so make the best of it. Don't do tomorrow, what you can do today."

How to get tagged:

Community College Freshmen - If you're bound for Mississippi State, go ahead and Get Tagged! There are 2 ways to become part of our Transfer Admissions Guarantee (TAG) program.

If you were admitted to MSU as a freshman for Fall 2013 but decided to attend a community college first, just go back to apply.msstate.edu, log back in to your application and click the "TAG ME" button. Please tell us where you're attending community college and update your contact information as needed.

If you're in your first year of Community College but did NOT apply for admission to State as a freshman, you can still Get Tagged, too. Go to apply.msstate.edu and follow the directions to apply to the TAG program.

If you're a community college sophomore or a student planning to transfer from another 4-year institution, then the TAG program will not be the best fit for you. The traditional application for admission for Fall 2014 will be your best route.
