Are you bulldog bound?

If you are planning to transfer for spring, summer or fall 2015, the application is now available. We look forward to welcoming you into the bulldog family!

Bulldog Bound Perspective: Chance Barfoot

Meet Chance Barfoot, a transfer student from East Central Community College. Chance is a fan of all things Mississippi State, especially sports, so he always knew MSU was where he wanted to get his college degree. The Meridian campus was a great way for him to fulfill his dream and keep his job in his hometown of Philadelphia, Mississippi.

Chance chose the Healthcare Administration program at MSU-Meridian because it is an ever-growing field with a wide range of jobs and advancement opportunities.

"I've learned so much already about my chosen career field since I've been at MSU-Meridian. The professors really take the time to thoroughly cover all the required information while also making sure that all of their students understand the material. Over all they have been extremely helpful and it seems like the students here get a more personal experience than they would at a large campus."

The Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Healthcare Administration prepares students for careers in a variety of health related organizations. The program meets rigorous accreditation and professional standards, and it addresses the needs of current and potential healthcare managers, clinical professionals preparing for administrative responsibilities, as well as pre-professionals preparing for a career in healthcare management. Students in the program will have broad exposure to planning, directing, controlling, coordinating, and quality improvement in healthcare endeavors. They will also have the opportunity to gain real-world experience at local healthcare organizations.

Organizations that employ professional healthcare managers include hospitals, clinics, insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, and medical equipment or supply manufacturers.

MSU Police Department

Mississippi State University has campus police at both the Starkville and Meridian campuses. The Starkville campus has a full-service agency that is available 24 hours a day, throughout the year. The Department works towards building partnerships with the university community to provide a safer environment with such programs and services as: Bike Patrol, Residence Hall Adopt-a-Cop, Bully Patrol, Community Police Officers and Library Patrol.

Meridian's three full-time and four part-time police officers under the direction of acting chief Gary Knox are responsible for the safety and well-being of our faculty, staff and students on both the College Park Campus and the Downtown Campus. The officers are happy to assist anyone on our campuses Monday through Saturday. Students may obtain their university ID cards and parking decals in the Campus Police Office located on the College Park Campus.

Located in the heart of historic downtown Meridian, the MSU Riley Center opened its doors in September 2006 to offer cultural, artistic, and educational experiences like no other in the region. The center includes a fully restored 1889 grand opera house theater that seats approximately 950 offering a wide-range of entertainment for the whole family.
