Bulldog Bound Perspectives: Your Admissions Counselors

Hannah Matthews can relate - she was a transfer student herself! After receiving her Associate's degree from Northwest Mississippi Community College, where she also played softball for two seasons, Hannah continued to earn a Bachelor's in Psychology from Mississippi State. "As a psychology major, I find joy in listening to prospective students and encouraging them to make MSU their home away from home," said Hannah. "Mississippi State is a big SEC school with a friendly, small-town feel!"

Rachael Smith majored in English at MSU. Originally from Decatur, AL, she made plenty of unofficial visits to Starkville before considering MSU. When the time came for Rachael to decide on a university, she made an official visit to MSU and a decision on the same day - while also making time to audition for the MSU Choir! "Many transfer students I meet are interested in practical applications of classroom knowledge," explained Rachael. "I think that's the spirit of a land-grant university, and I urge them to apply to MSU, Mississippi's Flagship Research University!"

Candy Adams is from West Point, MS, and attended MSU as an undergrad where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Candy recruits students interested in continuing their education at MSU's Meridian campus. This is something she knows about firsthand as she's currently working towards a Master's degree in School Counseling at MSU-Meridian! Candy enjoys helping students realize their goals of obtaining a college degree from MSU. "Everyone can find their place at Mississippi State," she explained. "Not all students are brought up to believe that a college degree is attainable. I work with students to show them that at MSU, it is!"
