Are you #BulldogBound?

If you are planning to transfer for Spring, Summer or Fall 2016, the application is now available. We look forward to welcoming you into the Bulldog family!

Bulldog Bound Perspective: Denton Reissig

Denton comes to us from Louisville, Texas, but he's always been close to Mississippi State. His aunt and uncle are alumni, and his godfather has close ties to MSU Athletics, which might explain why he's been wearing maroon and white since the age of two; even his name was inspired by a character in alumnus John Grisham's novel, The Pelican Brief.

"My uncle attended MSU and majored in Chemical Engineering, and he strongly recommended the university and course of study," explains Reissig. "I had a knack for chemistry as it was. In high school, my chemistry teacher sat me in the back of the classroom to assist in answering other students' questions."

Denton went on to say that he chose MSU "for the atmosphere and because it feels like home." Any advice for rising transfer students? He replied, "Study hard. A degree from a school like Mississippi State will help you progress in society, and if you push yourself now, you'll be able to get further ahead once you have that degree."

Major Insight: Chemical Engineering

There are four concentrations available to undergraduate majors: Chemical Engineering Practice, Chemical Engineering Research & Development, Bimolecular Engineering, and a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering which was just reinstated this fall! The R&D concentration is recommended for those planning to pursue a graduate engineering degree. The biomolecular concentration is for students in pre-med or similar pre-professional tracks. The Chemical Engineering Practice is our "traditional" curriculum.

The program also has strong internship and cooperative education programs and many students are engaged in research with faculty. As such, program alumni have gone on to successful careers in the development, design, and control of processes to prepare useful products with minimal environmental impact. The industries that hire our students include chemical and energy companies, as well as producers of consumer and specialty products, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and polymers.

Mississippi State breaks enrollment records!

Mississippi State is welcoming a record number of students this fall, including an unprecedented 17 percent increase in first-time freshmen at the university.

According to MSU enrollment data, overall enrollment stands at 20,873, an increase of 735 students from the fall 2014 enrollment of 20,138. The previous record was set in fall 2011 when 20,424 students were enrolled.

Transfer students currently enrolled at Mississippi's flagship research university total 3,471, a 497-student increase over the fall 2014 count of 2,974. The previous record was 3,156 set in fall 2013.

Los Lonely Boys at The Riley Center, Sept 18

Mississippi State offers a wide variety of activities to appeal to our diverse student body. Los Lonely Boys will be playing MSU Meridian's Riley Center on September 18 at 7:30 p.m. For tickets, click here.

Bluesy rock and Latin-influenced soul form the bedrock of the Los Lonely Boys sound. Most important is the family bond, made even stronger after Henry suffered serious injuries in a 2013 fall from a stage. "The main thing is that we stick together," says Jojo, "and that we're trying to pass on that feeling of brotherhood, of familia, in the music that we make."

Transfer Admissions Guarantee: How To Get Tagged

Community College Freshmen - If you're bound for Mississippi State, go ahead and Get Tagged! There are 2 ways to become part of our Transfer Admissions Guarantee (TAG) program.

If you were admitted to MSU as a freshman for Fall 2015 but decided to attend a community college first, just go back to apply.msstate.edu, log back in to your application and click the "TAG ME" button. Please tell us where you're attending community college and update your contact information as needed.

If you're in your first year of Community College but did NOT apply for admission to State as a freshman, you can still Get Tagged, too. Go to apply.msstate.edu and follow the directions to apply to the TAG program.

If you're a community college sophomore or a student planning to transfer from another 4-year institution, then the TAG program will not be the best fit for you. The traditional application for admission for Fall 2016 will be your best route.
