Bulldog Bound Perspective: Patrick Byrne

Patrick Byrne - Major: Finance
Patrick Byrne - Major: Finance

Patrick transferred to Mississippi State after receiving his A.A. degree from Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland and then serving a year in Americorps. His term of service began in his hometown of Washington, DC but transferred him later that year to rural Alabama to work as a budget and finance analyst.

"Many of the Alabamans I met recommended the Business program at MSU - particularly because I was interested in finance," explained Patrick. "When I visited the campus - and Mississippi - for the first time, I found a close-knit community, a low cost-of-living, and a quaint town where there's always something to do."

Patrick, who took some time off between earning his A.A. and enrolling at MSU, had some great advice for prospective transfer students: "There's always going to be a lot of reasons not to finish your degree, but doing so is not only something that you'll enjoy, it will help you later in your professional life."

If you were admitted to MSU as a freshman for Fall 2015 but decided to attend a community college first, just go back to apply.msstate.edu, log back in to your application and click the "TAG ME" button. Please tell us where you're attending community college and update your contact information as needed.

If you're in your first year of Community College but did NOT apply for admission to State as a freshman, you can still Get Tagged, too. Go to apply.msstate.edu and follow the directions to apply to the TAG program.
