Bulldog Bound Perspective: Francesca Magario
Meet Francesca Magario, a Foreign Language major from Modena, Italy. Francesca moved to Mississippi with her husband and transferred to MSU after attending the Mayhew campus of East Mississippi Community College. She was led to her major by a passion for learning foreign languages and hopes to one day either teach or become a translator.
Francesca said the best thing about the university is the professors, “They are incredible because they really care about their students and inspire us to always strive for greatness.” She offered this advice for future MSU transfer students, “Go to class regularly because it’s the most important part of your experience as a college student.”
Major Insight: Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures
The College of Arts & Sciences at Mississippi State University is the largest college at MSU with more than 5,200 students offering 24 academic majors in 14 different departments.
The mission of The Department of Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures is to make students of Mississippi State University internationally literate. They strive to educate students so they may acquire the knowledge and skills to interact successfully in an increasingly intercultural world. It is their goal to establish a solid foundation upon which students can build a career and thrive in any field they might pursue. East meets West, Classical languages converge with Modern languages giving students the experience that will allow them to embrace diversity, while maintaining a solid sense of their own historical identity. Please tell us where you're attending community college and update your contact information as needed.
If you're in your first year of Community College but did NOT apply for admission to State as a freshman, you can still Get Tagged, too. Go to apply.msstate.edu and follow the directions to apply to the TAG program.
If you're a community college sophomore or a student planning to transfer from another 4-year institution, then the TAG program will not be the best fit for you. The traditional application for admission for Fall 2016 will be your best route.
