F.L.A.R.E. - Fostering LGBTQ+ Advocacy, Resources, and Environments

The purpose of our organization is to encourage people who feel that they do not belong into any particular group to step outside of their comfort zones and interact with other people who may exhibit the same feelings. What we do is bring people together with similar interest and different backgrounds to stimulate their ability to foster friendships, build confidence, and help them to get better acclimated to campus life whether it be socially or academically driven. While we appeal mostly to freshmen, distance, and transfer students, we are open to anyone who is interested.

Graduate Student Association

The Graduate Student Association (GSA) provides programs and services to enrich the graduate student experience and promote, support, and represent graduate student interests and values. The GSA sponsors two main events annually to enhance student experience and showcase student achievements, the Graduate Student Research Symposium and the Graduate Student Awards Banquet, in addition to other programs and opportunities throughout the academic year. The GSA takes a leading position in the Graduate Professional Week and Graduate Integrity Week on the MSU Campus. The GSA also meets monthly to provide a forum for graduate students to network with peers, learn about valuable campus support services, and express concerns on both academic and non-academic issues.

Music Maker Productions

Music Maker Productions is a non-profit, student-run organization at Mississippi State University. Our primary goal is to bring quality entertainment to Mississippi State University and the City of Starkville. Music Maker Productions is comprised of a close group of twenty Mississippi State students, a graduate assistant, and two advisors. Four students are selected by the members to serve on the Executive Board as Student Director, Artist Relations Chair, Publicity Chair, and Ticketing Chair.  Established over fifty years ago, Music Maker Productions has garnered respect as a professional entity in the music business. Through shows such as Rae Sremmurd, Grace Potter and The Nocturnals, Bob Dylan, and Alabama Shakes, Music Maker Productions has successfully brought acts crossing genres and generations to Mississippi State University's campus and community. National Residence Hall Honorary

The National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) is the premiere honorary supported by the leading international organization advocating for the interests and welfare of residence hall students, while also providing opportunities for their personal growth and development. New Maroon Camp

The Mississippi State University New Maroon Camp is a five-day, four-night student led retreat that prepares first year students for the transition to Mississippi State University. At New Maroon Camp, students learn what it really means to be a Mississippi State Bulldog. This includes giving students the opportunity to experience and learn about MSU history & traditions (the cowbell, the Chapel of Memories, etc.), meet other incoming students, and gain insight into freshman year. At Mississippi State University, we pride ourselves on being a family. At New Maroon Camp, we carry on this legacy by placing campers into one of five family groups. In these family groups, students will participate in team competitions and group discussions, allowing them to develop deeper relationships with their counselors and peers before classes even begin.

Shackouls Honors Council

The University Honors Council is an elected group of 20 students who serve as the governing body of the Shackouls Honors College. The members of the Council represent more than 1,000 participants who come from every college and school. The council is composed of 20 members who are nominated and elected by the members of the Honors College. These positions are filled by fall and spring elections and are open to all current MSU Honors students (3.4 cumulative GPA required). Students must fill out a form of intent to be nominated. If you are elected to the Honors Council, you would serve on one of six standing committees: Activities, Administration, Communication, Recruitment, Finance, or Service. You would also be expected to attend weekly council meetings, as well as scheduled committee meetings. Also, you must work a total of twelve (12) hours over the course of the semester. You can be involved with Honors Council activities without being elected. Just volunteer! The Service and Recruitment Committees are open to all members of the Honors College. In addition, all council meetings are open to anyone. You may make suggestions to any one of the council members or present your ideas at one of the meetings.

STEM Communications Club

To work with STEM students in making sure each student is better prepared, and more confident with all types of communications. We will have regular meetings for students to practice presenting in multiple formats, work days for writing reports and papers. Additionally, we will invite different guest speakers to give tips and tricks. This club is meant to be a fun and relaxed collaborative environment for students to improve their communication skills.

Students Paving A Road to Knowledge Leadership Conference

Our purpose is to ignite a SPARK that propels students to endless possibilities for their future. Students Paving A Road to Knowledge (S.P.A.R.K) is a free leadership conference for underrepresented rising seniors in order to help them find their path after high school graduation. During this three-day conference, students will be introduced to numerous avenues for life after high school. This serves as a vessel for self-exploration, self-discovery, growth, and development for each conference attendee.

We, the transfer students of Mississippi State University, in order to promote student welfare and an academic atmosphere; to further the activities of student life involving transfer students; to encourage a clear and continuous exchange of ideas between the students, faculty, and the university administration; and to instill and promote a greater spirit of progress and loyalty for our alma mater.
