Reunion

Blaylock, Scott

I was born and raised in Greenwood, MS. After I was married, I called Starkville home for nine years. I served 10+ years in the Mississippi Army National Guard. I had the honor of serving in Hurricanes Katrina and Gustav, Choctaw County Tornado Relief (2010), and Operation Iraqi Freedom (2009-2010). My professional duties in the military ranged from Recruiter (79T), Fire Support Specialist (13F), Fire Direction NCO (13D), and Human Resources NCO (42A). I medically retired from HQ, 2-198th CAB in Senatobia. Sadly my military career was cut short due to Chronic Kidney Disease and even Acute Renal Failure. I am also proud to say I retired at the rank of Sergeant First Class.

It's simple really. This is a poem about the fears within as I am reuniting with my daughter upon returning to Mississippi from my deployment in Iraq.
