Our story begins in 1851 at Wesleyan Female College in Macon, Georgia, where six incredible women changed the world. Led by Eugenia Tucker Fitzgerald, our founders formed The Adelphean Society for “the mental, moral, social, and domestic improvement of its members.” The Adelphean Society, later renamed Alpha Delta Pi, was the first secret society for college women. The principles of scholarship, leadership, sisterhood, and service guide over 235,000 women in more than 151 active collegiate chapters and over 150 alumnae associations of Alpha Delta Pi.

Alpha Gamma Rho is the only professional and social fraternity at Mississippi State University. Our roots are in agriculture- food, fiber and life sciences, however we do limit ourselves just to that. All majors are welcome. We strive to encourage bonds of friendship and brotherhood in combination with teaching excellent work ethic so that all our brothers have both an exciting college life and a successful work-life. It was in the Fall of 1974 when Brother Clarence Christian recognized a vital need in the Mississippi community. He understood the necessity for strong leadership, encouragement, and scholastic aptitude among blacks at Mississippi State University. With the inspiring legacy of Alpha Phi Alpha embedded deep within his heart. Brother Christian called upon nine young promising students with a great capacity to lead and learn to answer the call of a hungry society. Called to leadership, these young men known as the "Fine Line Nine", chartered an outstanding chapter that would serve as part of a national organization that has been at the forefront of leadership since 1906. Thus, the Kappa Beta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. was born. Driven by a desire to further themselves in a society still suffering from the remnants of a societal decay, known as racial bigotry and segregation, they immediately became leaders within their community, and created their own legacy that continues to prosper to this day.

Delta Xi Phi Multicultural Sorority, Inc.

Delta Xi Phi is a multicultural organization founded on April 20th, 1994 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The Gamma Associate Chapter was established on the campus of Mississippi State University on December 4th, 1998. Delta Xi Phi focuses on our pillars of Advancement of Women through Higher Education, Increasing Multicultural Awareness, Community Service, Sisterhood, and Friendship. Together we recognize the need to stand for something greater than ourselves: "What is possible has been done. What is impossible must be done."

Kappa Alpha Psi

After 96 years of providing learning, service, and research, Mississippi State University finally offered its students the opportunity to become a part of the "Frat so nice, they named it twice." On January 22, 1974, the efforts of several young men of achievement were rewarded when the Eta Upsilon Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. became a reality. The history of Eta Up is filled with 43 years of diversity. This chapter has initiated men from every walk of life and bound them together with a bond that most cannot comprehend. Eta Up's membership ranges from past Student Association Presidents, Senators, Cabinet members, Alumni Delegates, Roadrunners, Orientation Leaders, Honor Societies, Resident Assistants to MSU athletes on the football field and basketball courts. Eta Up's roll call includes businessmen, engineers, computer professionals, professional athletes, educators, law enforcement officers, and those working within the realms of government and public service.

Kappa Delta

The Delta Omega Chapter of Kappa Delta was founded in 1871. Kappa Delta works nationally with Prevent Child Abuse America, as well as within their local chapter communities. Our chapter works closely with the Sally Kate Winters Home in West Point, Mississippi. Kappa Delta inspires all 286 members to reach their potential by offering opportunities for leadership, personal development, academic success and community service, all in the context of true friendship.

Kappa Sigma Fraternity

Kappa Sigma is focused upon the Four Pillars of Fellowship, Leadership, Scholarship and Service. Kappa Sigma is the largest college social fraternity in the world with more than 200,000 living members, including over 20,000 undergraduates and 320 chapters and colonies located throughout the United States and Canada. Founded in 1869 at the University of Virginia, Kappa Sigma International Headquarters is based in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity

The mission of Lambda Chi Alpha is to offer the best fraternal experience, focusing on personal character development through leadership, scholarship, community service, and positive social experiences. The vision of Lambda Chi Alpha is to prepare and encourage collegiate men of good charter, high ethics, and noble ideals to contribute positively to the world in which they live.

Multicultural Greek Council

The purpose of the Multicultural Greek Council at Mississippi State University is to provide a forum that allows for the free exchange of ideas, programs, and services between its constituent fraternities and sororities; to promote awareness of multicultural diversity within collegiate institutions, their surrounding communities, and the greater community at large; and to support and promote the works of its member organizations.

National Pan-Hellenic Council

The National Pan-Hellenic Council, Incorporated (NPHC) represents historically Black Greek-letter organizations (BGLOs) and is composed of the Divine Nine. The member organizations of the Divine Nine are Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. NPHC promotes interaction through forums, meetings and other mediums for the exchange of information and engages in cooperative programming and initiatives through various activities and functions. On May 10, 1930, on the campus of Howard University, in Washington DC, the National Pan-Hellenic Council was formed as a permanent organization with the following charter members: Alpha Kappa Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi Phi, Delta Sigma Theta, and Zeta Phi Beta. In 1931, Alpha Phi Alpha and Phi Beta Sigma joined the Council. Sigma Gamma Rho joined in 1937, and Iota Phi Theta completed the list of member organizations in 1997. The stated purpose and mission of the organization in 1930 was as follows: “Unanimity of thought and action as far as possible in the conduct of Greek-letter collegiate fraternities and sororities, and to consider problems of mutual interest to its member organizations.” Early in 1937, the organization was incorporated under the laws of the State of Illinois and became known as “The National Pan-Hellenic Council, Incorporated." At Mississippi State, there are currently 8 of the 9 member organizations, all governed by the MSU Chapter of NPHC. Each organization strives to interact with, inform, and serve the MSU and Starkville community, through forums, meetings, and events.

National Panhellenic Council

The Panhellenic Council is the governing council for all sororities that are in the National Panhellenic Conference. The council is in place to help incoming prospects find their future home and providing an unbiased atmosphere for women in every chapter to rely on during their time at MSU.

Nu Beta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc

The Nu Beta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was chartered on the campus of Mississippi State University on April 14, 1976. Nu Beta was the first black greek sorority to be chartered at Mississippi State. The procedures for the implementation of the chapter were initiated by Soror Amelia Adams, Soror Hester Watts Buie, Soror Pearlie Perkins, and Soror Pauline Pearson Stamps. Because of their determination and dedication to Delta we have been a chapter of college women with the courage to lead. Today we continue to serve our community as well as the campus of Mississippi State. We conduct programs under our sorority's Five Point Programmatic Thrust: Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, and Political Awareness and involvement. The Nu Beta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta continues to set standards for academic excellence as well as lead and assist students and people in the community.

Phi Delta Theta

Phi Delta Theta Fraternity at Mississippi State University (Mississippi Beta Chapter) has been in existence for 28 years now. From the beginning, the founding members of Mississippi Beta recognized the importance of friendship, sound learning, and moral rectitude, the three cardinal principles of Phi Delta Theta. The chapter was built on these values, and the members will tell you, our continued commitment to these three principles is what makes fraternity life at Mississippi Beta an incredible experience. We see fraternity as more than just a word. It's a way of life. Phi Delta Theta is The Standard for Brotherhood at Mississippi State.

Phi Gamma Delta is dedicated to developing men of character within the academic setting, with the aim that they will become fully contributing members of society.

Phi Kappa Tau

Alpha Chi chapter of Phi Kappa Tau, commonly known as Phi Tau, have been striving to build men of character since April 30, 1938.

Phi Mu Sorority

Phi Mu was founded in 1852 at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. It began as the Philomathean Society, a literary society, and is the second oldest secret society for women. The Philomathean Society became Phi Mu Fraternity in 1904. Because the word "sorority" was not commonly used when Phi Mu was chartered, its proper name is Phi Mu Fraternity even though it is a women's organization. Phi Mu has chapters across the United States and nearly 150,000 collegiate and alumnae members. The Fraternity is governed by a seven-member National Council that oversees teams of National and Area Officers, all of whom serve on a volunteer basis. In addition to 120 collegiate chapters, each based on a college or university campus, Phi Mu has 175 alumnae chapters in cities and towns across the nation. Membership in Phi Mu is for a lifetime, and the alumnae chapters provide networking, social and Sisterhood activities for members of all ages. Both Collegiate and Alumnae Chapters have officers who handle chapter business and serve as liaisons between their chapters, Area and National Officers, and the National Headquarters. The Phi Mu National Headquarters is in Peachtree City, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta. Phi Mu Fraternity and Phi Mu Foundation co-own the building and both staffs work there. Fraternity staff members provide support to Collegiate and Alumnae Chapters and to Area and National Officers. The Carnation Collection, a boutique with Phi Mu merchandise, also is housed at the Headquarters. Most staff members work in the Headquarters each day, but members of the traveling team, including Chapter Consultants (recent college graduates) spend most of their time traveling to collegiate chapters to provide them with education, tools for successful operation, and support. All Phi Mus have different college experiences, but we all share a Bond of Sisterhood. We all believe in the ideals of our Creed: Love, Honor, and Truth. Each Phi Mu who gives time as an active member, officer, or volunteer, contributes to the continued success of Phi Mu Fraternity.

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated was founded by 7 illustrious educators on the campus of Butler University in Indianapolis, IN. It is the only sorority in the National PanHellenic Council that was founded on a predominately white campus. Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority's aim is to enhance the quality of life within the community. Public service, leadership development and education of youth are the hallmarks of the organization's programs and activities. Sigma Gamma Rho addresses concerns that impact society educationally, civilly, and economically.

Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity

Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity, Inc. is a Latino-based multicultural fraternity. The Chi Delta Chapter was chartered at MSU on April 11,2009, based upon the principles of brotherhood, scholarship, community service, and cultural awareness. The events that we host encompass these four principles.

Sigma Nu Fraternity

The Iota Gamma Chapter of Sigma Nu is a social fraternity that encompasses the college experience with activities promoting brotherhood, philanthropy, and fun. A membership in Sigma Nu is a privilege and requires a commitment that lasts for more than four years, it lasts a lifetime.

Sigma Phi Epsilon

A chapter of the largest national social fraternity in the State, stretching over 220 chapters. With the unique Balanced Man Program, we aim to educate and prepare our members to be successful leaders, professionals, husbands, fathers, and SigEps in their lives after college. We belive in building upon the man a prospective member is, not breaking him down to fit some mold.

The Interfraternity Council

The Interfraternity Council (IFC) is a self-governing body of sixteen member fraternities at Mississippi State University. IFC is made up of two parts: The General Body, which is made up of each chapter and an Executive Committee, which is comprised of elected and appointed positions. The IFC strives to promote excellence in all aspects of fraternity life and academic pursuits. The Council also works together to help the entire Greek system better achieve its common goal of membership development and service to the Starkville community. IFC works to achieve these goals through its committee structure focusing on an array of areas including chapter development, scholarship, community service, member education, and alumni and public relations. The Council is lead by an seven member Executive Committee, which works closely with the IFC Advisor. Each year, the Council sponsors numerous educational programs, recruitment events, community service projects, and university and community relations events such as "Trick or Treat on the Row".

Theta Iota Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity was founded at Howard University in Washington, D.C., January 9, 1914, by three young African-American male students. The Founders, Honorable A. Langston Taylor, Honorable Leonard F. Morse, and Honorable Charles I. Brown, wanted to organize a Greek letter fraternity that would truly exemplify the ideals of brotherhood, scholarship, and service. The Founders conceived Phi Beta Sigma as a mechanism to deliver services to the general community. Rather than gaining skills to be utilized exclusively for themselves and their immediate families, they held a deep conviction that they should return their newly acquired skills to the communities from which they had come. This deep conviction was mirrored in the Fraternity’s motto, “Culture For Service and Service For Humanity”.

Zeta Phi Beta

Zeta Phi Beta was founded on the campus of Howard University on January 16, 1920. The Sorority's international programs such as Z-HOPE (Zetas Helping Other People Excel) through Mind, Body and Spirit serve to empower people from all walks of life.
